Based on this scenario military exercise took place in Kaunas International Airpot on late Tuesday evening. It was a part of the international military exercise “Saber Strike 2015”. This was first operation of this kind in the entire history of Kaunas Airport. Airport operations were suspended for several hours due to the exercise. Over 60 enemy soldiers scattered over the airport and become the target of allied forces. Firstly, reconnaissance from the air was done by two jet bombers B-52, who specially flew to Kaunas from Great Britain.
“Over our heads is flying jet bomber B-52 which performs initial fire and destroys the targets that may impact the landing of paratroopers. The main target is the anti-aircraft defence of the enemy forces. It needs to be neutralized so that low flying aircrafts could be relatively safer in the airspace. Also, the objects where enemy forces are concentrated will be destroyed in order to reduce the manpower resistance” – said one of Lithuanian military air attack officers, whose name is not disclosed.
