New chair of Seimas National Security Committee elected

The Seimas Committee on National Security and Defence on Monday elected MP Arvydas Pocius as its new chair. Parliament is yet to approve the appointment.

Pocius was delegated by the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrat party (TS-LKD).

Nine members of the committee voted for him as the new chair while one MP abstained.

As reported, the leading position at the committee became vacant when then chair Laurynas Kasčiūnas became Lithuania’s minister of national security and defence succeeding Arvydas Anušauskas who resigned in mid-February.
