82 percent of Lithuanian households had internet access in the first half of this year, up 4 percent from the same period last year, and 77 percent of household had personal computers, an increase of 1 percent.

79 percent of city residents and 83 percent of rural residents had computers, and 71 and 78 percent had internet access respectively, according to the latest figures from Lithuania's statistics office, Statistics Lithuania.

The figures also show that 82 percent of people, aged 16-74, used internet in Lithuania in the first quarter, up from 78 percent a year ago. In the 16-24 age group, almost everyone (99 percent) used internet, and the figure stood at 40 percent in the 65-74 age group.

76 percent of those aged 16-74 used the internet for communication (94 percent of internet users of this age), 65 percent used it for e-banking (79 percent), 61 percent used the internet for communicating on social media and looking for information on health (74 percent respectively), 47 percent listened to online music (57 percent).

38 percent (46 percent) used visited e-shops.
