Lithuania marks Freedom Defenders Day

On Friday, Lithuania commemorates the 32nd anniversary of the tragic events of January 13 and the Day of the Defenders of Freedom.

On the morning of 13 January, the traditional civic campaign Atmintis gyva, nes liudija (Memory is Alive through Testimony) will be held nationwide, with candles being lit in the windows of homes, state institutions, businesses and schools. Flowers will be laid at the Žinia (Message) monument in the Independence Square dedicated to 11 March.
