“Changes in the weather were the major factor affecting the prices last week. Due to cooler weather the need for electricity went up by 9% in the Baltic States and the overall consumption in the Nord Pool region grew by 12%, as compared to the data observed the week before. Also, wind energy production has significantly fallen, about 19%. Last week annual maintenance works of the NordBalt link were completed and the electricity flow from Sweden’s SE4 bidding area was resumed. Meanwhile, the electricity flow from Finland decreased by 47%,” Artūras Zatulinas, head of the Business Solutions Department at Elektrum Lietuva, said.
