"I won't allow any danger as to politicians' interference in anti-corruption bodies' activities," he said at a joint news conference with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė in Vilnius on Friday.

Poroshenko said that he had informed his Lithuanian counterpart in detail about the situation regarding the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine, which critics say has faced increasing pressure from politicians lately.

Grybauskaitė said that Ukraine had to ensure that both its law enforcement is independent from politicians and that law-enforcement bodies do not interfere with political processes.

She noted that Lithuania had experienced similar challenges in the past.
