Up to 100 thousand Ukrainian refugees may arrive to Lithuania in winter

As Russia continues attacking Ukraine’s critical facilities, both Lithuania and other European Union countries are preparing for new flows of war refugees, Minister of the Interior Agnė Bilotaitė says.

“As regards preparations for a new influx of war refugees from Ukraine, we should be glad that, for the first time, the EU has been very quick in adopting the Temporary Protection Directive and allowing Ukrainians to settle in Europe. At present, there are 3.9 million Ukrainians who have been granted this status. And that directive has been extended until March 2024,” Bilotaitė told reporters in the Interior Ministry on Wednesday.
