Tusk says solidarity between Poland and Lithuania not in question in case of aggression

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk insists that the solidarity between Vilnius and Warsaw is not in question. His statement comes amid a recent public debate in Lithuania on the legal possibility for Polish troops to come to the neighbouring country’s aid in the event of an attack.

The Polish and Lithuanian foreign and defence ministers will discuss the issue in the coming days to avoid further speculation, he said after a meeting with Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė in Vilnius on Monday.

Tusk assured that on his way to Vilnius, he had looked through the current defence plans for cooperation between Lithuania and Poland. However, the Polish prime minister noted, a press conference is not the place to discuss operational plans.
