His Freedom TV television channel had raised money to buy such a drone.

"Turkey and the Baykar manufacturer have decided to GIFT Lithuania a state-of-the-art Bayraktar TB2 combat drone, complete with all optics and essentials," Tapinas posted on Facebook today.

In his words, the 1.5 million euros donated by people will be transferred to the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense and the money will be used to fully equip the drone.

Turkey requested that the remaining 4.4 million euros should be earmarked for humanitarian, defense, logistical or reconstruction aid to Ukraine, Tapinas said.

According to him, the Bayraktar aircraft should be ready within three weeks, and the Lithuanian Air Force will bring the drone from Turkey, which will later hand it over to Ukraine.

"The Turks have also promised to decorate the Bayraktar with the colors of Lithuania and Ukraine and to put the chosen name on it," Tapinas said.

Last week, Laisves TV raised 5.9 million euros in less than four days to buy the drone.

Ukraine has been fighting the invading Russian forces for more than three months, but is facing a shortage of weapons and is calling on Western countries to provide more of them.
