Stoltenberg says NATO should send strong message to Ukraine regarding membership prospects

On Monday, after a joint press conference with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg said at the Q&A session that the Alliance would send a strong message to Ukraine regarding its membership prospects.

“At the summit I am absolutely certain that we will have unity and a strong message on Ukraine,” said Stoltenberg.

The secretary general noted that earlier at a meeting in Oslo he put forward a programme of practical support to ensure full interoperability between Ukrainian and NATO forces. The other point, he said, was to establish the NATO-Ukraine Council, a platform to consult and make decisions together.
