"Around 80 people will be voluntarily returned over the upcoming week," Arnoldas Abramavicuus, a foreign affairs vice minister, told the parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defense on Wednesday.

In his words, Iraqi consuls are currently in Lithuania and are preparing documents for these people.

Based on data from the Interior Ministry, a total of more than 200 foreigners who entered Lithuanian illegally have voluntarily returned to their countries of origin so far this year, and 54 have been returned compulsively. Decisions have also been made to send out another 212 migrants as they failed to ask for asylum in Lithuania.

Some 2,100 asylum requests have been processed so far, and eight of them have been satisfied, Abramavicius said.

More than 4,200 illegal migrants have come to Lithuanian so far this year. Foreigners are accommodated in special accommodation places and have no right to leave them.

Migrants can ask to be returned to their country of origin at any time. Assisted by the International Migration Organization, Lithuania buys plane tickets for such people and gives one-off 300 euro payouts.
