President’s adviser: Macron’s idea on European strategic autonomy has drawbacks

President of France Emmanuel Macron believes that Europe should become more strategically autonomous and should be a third global power next to the United States and China.

After a visit to China, Macron stated that acceleration on the topic of Taiwan is not in Europe’s interest. Commenting about such statements, Asta Skaisgirytė, the Lithuanian president’s chief foreign policy adviser, pointed out the importance of the USA for Europe in the area of security.
