"I have serious doubts that the political parties of this parliament will have the will to open a large window of reforms, be it a tax reform or reforms in other areas," he told LRT Radio on Wednesday.
According to the president, a tax reform group set up by the Finance Ministry has achieved a "zero result".
"There were a number of meetings and I know that a number of proposals were worked out. They were all suspended for a while and the tax reform group finished its work with zero results, because little of the proposals made it to the Seimas," he said.
The ruling bloc has said earlier that the planned tax reform should take effect in January 2023 at the earliest. However, after the war in Ukraine started last February and the energy crisis erupted, the tax review was postponed until the situation has stabilized.
Finance Minister Gintare Skaiste has said recently that the reform package should reach the parliament next spring, adding that it will not be publicly presented until a consensus has been found in the coalition.
