"Based on the current estimates, the reagents should be sufficient for at least two months," Simona Kalvelyte, a spokeswoman for the laboratory, told BNS. "Of course, it will also depend on the scale of testing."

The volume of reagents is sufficient for around 345,000 tests, she said.

The Health Ministry has said recently that another 15,000 reagents for rapid PCR testing are on their way to Lithuania.

The country is also buying another 231,000 reagents for molecular PCR testing.

Kalvelyte said that the new supply should be sufficient for a month, adding that reagents are being purchased on a regular basis.

A total of 925,758 tests for COVID-19 have been carried out in Lithuania so far. The number of tests surged to over 10,000 in the last 24 hours, up from last week's daily average of 7,000 tests.
