Latvian government extends emergency regime at border with Belarus until 10 August

On Tuesday, the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers decided to extend the emergency on the state border with Belarus until 10 August, the Government’s press service said.

The regime will apply to the border areas in Ludza, Krāslava, Augšdaugava and Daugavpils districts.
The decision comes after a sharp rise in the number of illegal crossings of the Latvian-Belarusian and Lithuanian-Belarusian borders.
