Speaking with BNS on Thursday, she confirmed it's her personal decision to leave. She plans to provide her motives for such a decision and wider comment on Friday, her last day at the Health Ministry.
"Yes, (I am stepping down – BNS). There will be a public statement and wider comment tomorrow," she said.
Simonaityte has served in her current position since the middle of December, 2020.
She previously worked at the National Audit Office of Lithuania alongside incumbent Health Minister Arunas Dulkys who was later invited to join his team at the Ministry of Health.
Dulkys led the National Audit Office of Lithuania for five years.
