"I am in the car on my way to the hospital. But I spoke to the doctor several minutes ago. The doctors are optimistic; they expect there will no serious consequences," it quoted Adamkus as saying.
Several weeks ago, Adamkiene was hospitalized because of blood vessel problems.
She was treated in intensive care last winter.
Adamkus served two terms as Lithuanian president between 1998 and 2009.
