Estonian Parliament speaker: we will not surrender Estonia's main holiday to evil

President of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) Jüri Ratas has said at the flag raising ceremony on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Estonia that although the meaning of 24 February had changed for us, we would not surrender the most important holiday of the Republic of Estonia to evil and it would always symbolise freedom.

Estonia’s head of parliament said at the ceremony held in the Governor’s Garden at Toompea, Tallinn, that when we hoisted the flag on top of the Tall Hermann Tower in honour of the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia one year ago, Russia had just attacked its neighbour Ukraine a few hours before.
