“Please be reminded that in order to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 virus, only necessary travelling is permitted; passengers crossing municipality borders must present a document proving the necessity of their trip. Enhanced control will be performed on trains, long-distance buses and at stations. We call on our citizens to behave responsibly, to avoid unnecessary trips and to comply with current mobility requirements,” Ramūnas Dilba, Chancellor of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, said.
Enhanced screening is planned to be performed over the entire Easter holiday. Police are to be aided by LTSA officials and passenger carriers.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications points out that travelling via longer distance routes is permitted only in the following cases: passengers are travelling to the municipality of their place of residence or they are travelling for work; passengers own property in another municipality; passengers are travelling for medical purposes or to international passenger airports, seaport or stations.
Passengers must present a document proving the necessity of the trip or its image on a mobile device. It may include, for example,at immovable property ownership documents, place of residence declaration or referral to a physician. Failure to provide such a document may result in a fine of EUR 500–1500.
