The Education, Science and Sports Ministry says children were recommended to carry out self-control tests on Tuesday. In case of a positive result, children should have a PCR test done. If it turns out negative, then the child can return to school. And if it comes out positive, the child needs to self-isolate and contact their family doctor.

If the child is not registered for a PCR test then 10-day isolation is recommended.

Giedre Aleksiene of the NPHC says the situation in schools "remains tense, just like the general epidemiological situation in the country".

Although the number of active clusters in schools went down slightly last week, educational facilities are still the main source of new cases as outbreaks in schools and kindergartens account for around two-thirds of all clusters which now stands at around 1,000.
