66 illegal migrants stopped at the border

On Wednesday, 3 August, Lithuanian border guards prevented 66 migrants from illegally crossing the state border and entering Lithuania from Belarus.

On Tuesday and Monday, 73 and 66 migrants respectively were stopped at the border.

According to the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania (VSAT), illegal migrants did not try to cross from Belarus to Latvia on Wednesday, whereas Poland stopped 19 migrants from illegally entering Poland from Belarus on Tuesday.

So far this year, Lithuanian border guards recorded 3,504 attempts by migrants to cross the border illegally from Belarus to Lithuania. In 2021, the figure stood at 8,106.
