112 becomes sole emergency call number in Lithuania as of Friday

112 will become the sole emergency call number in Lithuania after all old numbers – 01, 02, 03, 101, 102, 103, 011, 022 and 033 – stop working on Friday.

"Our message is that tomorrow these numbers will be switched off, so please remember one single number – 112 – to call the emergency services," Audrius Ciuplys, head of the Emergency Response Center, told reporters on Thursday.

In the next six months, a caller dialing any of the old numbers will hear a recorded message, in Lithuanian and Russian, advising them to dial 112 for all emergency services.
