In her words, the existing bans are now under review to identify the least effective ones and those that only imitate the fight against alcoholism.

"Alcoholism remains a fairly serious problem but we should fight against it differently, not by tearing up magazines and being known in the world as a country with completely inadequate measures for this fight. And, obviously, the advertising ban, which can be easily bypassed by putting out advertising of non-alcoholic beer all over the city and writing it in small letters, is really not an effective and logical way of fighting this serious problem," the speaker told the Ziniu Radijas news radio on Wednesday morning.

"I believe we will review that package of bans to identify those that do not work, are against common sense and we will replace them," she said.

The Seimas of Lithuania is gathering for its spring session. The first sitting will be held at the House of Parliament, but next week lawmakers will hold a remote sitting.
