Excessive cadmium levels found in Vičiūnų grupė 7.9t frozen seafood for Ukraine

Vičiūnų grupė, group of companies owned by Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis, has brought 22 tonnes of seafood from China to Lithuania that contain unauthorised levels of cadmium. Part of this cargo went to Ukraine while part was detained in Lithuania.

The Lithuanian State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT) inspected a cargo of 7.9 tonnes of frozen seafood being shipped to Ukraine by Vičiūnai Ukraina, part of the Vičiūnų grupė, and found cadmium concentrations exceeding the maximum level set out by the European Union (EU).
