Electricity price in Lithuania up by 12% on 7-13 November

On 7-13 November, compared with the previous week, the average price of electricity in the Lithuanian bidding area of the Nord Pool power market increased by 12%, from EUR 161 to EUR 182 per MWh. In Latvia and Estonia, electricity prices stood at EUR 179 and EUR 148 per MWh respectively.

According to Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid, the price of electricity in the country increased because of the annual maintenance of the NordBalt power interconnection between Lithuania and Sweden as electricity suppliers had to substitute cheaper electricity generated in Scandinavia with electricity generated in Lithuania or other regions.
