Economy minister sceptical about proposed real estate tax

Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė believes that the Finance Ministry’s proposed real estate tax, as part of the tax reform package, is not sufficiently substantiated.

“I would like to see more reasoning as to the specific aim of the tax, because if it is aimed at cooling down the housing market, for example, we believe that it has already cooled down due to [the increase in – ELTA] EURIBOR. So far I am sceptical about it,” the minister told reporters on Monday.
