After meeting with government officials on Wednesday, Lithuanian teachers' unions announced they would resume strikes, saying the government has failed to show "political will" to meet their demands.

The Ministry of Education and Science has announced that the current teachers' strike affects 15 municipalities. Thirty education establishments are said to be on strike: 21 general education, 7 pre-school education and 2 children's non-formal education establishments.

Part of Lithuanian teachers will start an indefinite strike on Tuesday which will involve educational workers from 120 establishments, said Andrius Navickas, chairman of the Trade Union of Education Workers in Lithuania, one of the strike's organizers.

The teachers' strike planned in Lithuania this week will include at least 107 educational institutions, with teachers refusing to teach students for the first two periods in schools, pre-school teachers refusing to accept children for two hours and teachers of non-formal institutions refusing to wor...
