Lithuania presented its progress on implementation of the recommendations for membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to members of the organization in Vilnius on Thursday, the government said.

Latvia will become the second Baltic state to join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The country's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday it had received an invitation to join the 34-country bloc often described as the rich club.

Lithuania will have to implement reforms on its path to membership of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD Deputy Secretary-General Mari Kiviniemi said in Vilnius on Thursday, adding that these reforms will benefit the country.
