Lithuania joins ECHR case Ukraine v. Russia along with 25 states

The European Court of Human Rights granted on Friday Lithuania’s request to intervene as a third party in the case of Ukraine v. Russian Federation and set a deadline for the submission of its position on the interpretation and application of the fundamental principles of human rights protection laid down in the European Convention on Human Rights, the Ministry of Justice announces.

Along with Lithuania, another 25 European countries intervened in the case that will be heard by the Grand Chamber of the Court.
The inter-state case concerns the Ukrainian Government’s allegations of mass and gross human rights violations committed by the Russian Federation in its military operations on the territory of Ukraine since 24 February 2022. The European Court of Human Rights received Ukraine’s application on 23 June 2022.
