Anticorruption Commission will ask security services to declassify data about former Government chancellor

On Wednesday, members of the Seimas Anticorruption Commission met with representatives of the State Security Department (VSD) and the Special Investigation Service (STT) to clarify how in 2019 MP Algirdas Stončaitis, then chancellor of the Government, now chair of the Anticorruption Commission, was authorised to access classified information.

Deputy Chairman of the Commission Bronislovas Matelis said he felt better informed on the issue after Wednesday’s meeting. However, the Conservative MP added that doubts were not dispelled as regards Stončaitis’ suitability to head the Anticorruption Commission. The latter did not take part in the meeting.
