Lithuanian and Romanian presidents discuss strengthening NATO’s eastern flank

On Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda met with President of Romania Klaus Iohannis who is paying an official visit to Vilnius. The bilateral meeting focussed on security and defence cooperation, strengthening of NATO’s eastern flank, sanctions on Russia, support for Ukraine and Moldova, the President’s Office said.

President Nausėda highlighted that Romanian air forces have been part of NATO’s air policing mission in the Baltic States since 2007, and next year the Romanian pilots are to come back to guard the Lithuanian air space.
