The move is linked to the ongoing Lithuanian-Chinese diplomatic spat over the Taiwanese representative office in Vilnius.

Ieva Konceviciute of Continental Automotive Lithuania says she learnt about that from media reports and refrained from commenting.

"We do not comment on political matters in general at the corporation level," she told BNS.

One of the biggest investors in Lithuania, Continental launched its operation in Lithuania's Kaunas District in late 2019. The production facility was the biggest investment in Lithuania's industrial sector in 20 years.

In April, Continental launched the construction of a second production facility in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone, worth more than 90 million euros, and plans to complete it by the upcoming spring. Continental's total investment value in Kaunas stands at around 185 million euros.

China has been angered lately by Lithuania's deepening ties with Taiwan and the recent opening of a Taiwanese representative office in Vilnius.
