Vilnius hospital closes vascular surgery unit due to COVID-19

Vilnius City Clinical Hospital is closing its vascular surgery unit due to a growing number of COVID-19 patients.

Patients who need urgent vascular treatment will be referred to the Republican Vilnius University Hospital in the Lazdynai area of Vilnius, GItana Letukiene, a spokeswoman for Santara Clinics, said on Wednesday.

Up until now, Vilnius City Clinical Hospital has allocated 150 beds for COVID-19 patients and 141 of them have already been occupied, as of Wednesday.

Once the vascular surgery unit is closed, the number of beds for COVID-19 patients will rise to 180.

The hospital also has six ICU places for COVID-19 patients and five of them are already occupied.
