Further findings revealed that of the countries ranked above, the most expensive place for coffee lovers is Denmark which costs on average €31.08 per week compared to the UK, but the Lithuanians can get their daily caffeine fix for €13.65 per week, a saving of €17.43.

And for meat lovers a beef round will set you back an average of €8.59 in the United Kingdom, €7.01 in Lithuania and an eye-watering €22.76 in Norway. In fact, beef costs over €10 in 50% of the European countries analysed.

Overall, of the 25 European countries analysed the most expensive country for the weekly shop is Switzerland costing €141.06, the cheapest is Ukraine costing €27.07.

This study has uncovered that location may be a contributing factor to the expenses incurred when buying the weekly food shop.
