The President highlighted that as a member of OECD Lithuania is in the club of the most successful countries and membership of the organization ensures benefits for our country’s economy, gives impetus to reforms and, at the same time, makes us assume responsibility for transparent state and business commitments, fight against shadow economy and corruption.

The President also stressed that Lithuania should effectively use the benefits of OECD membership, take part in the activities and governance of the organization. It is also important to use expert support that contributes to implementation of critical reforms in economy, science and education as well as fight against corruption in our country.

The President encouraged the new Ambassador to share our country’s achievements and best Fintech development practices in the organization.

The appointed ambassador is the first permanent representative of Lithuania at the OECD. Lithuania became a fully-fledged member of the organization on 5 July 2018.
