The Government of Lithuania is setting up a special commission for migration issues as the country prepares to take in over 1,000 refugees, the prime minister's spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

"Under the prime minister's decree, a commission will be set up for migration issues," Evelina Butkutė-Lazdauskienė told BNS.

The commission will be led by Government Vice-Chancellor Rimantas Vaitkus and will include representatives of various ministries.

Lithuania plans to receive 1,105 refugees over the next two years.
