For the first time in history of Lithuanian Figure Skating
ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating will be held in
Lithuania. On 6-8th of September in Kaunas Žalgiris arena,
the Grand Prix event „Amber Cup“ organized by Lithuanian
Skating Federation will gather more than 100 skaters from
all over the world. 33 member federations have already sent
their preliminary entries. „This is a huge accomplishment
for such a small country as Lithuania. We dreamed about this
kind of event in Lithuania since the times when Margarita
Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas had been making Lithuania
known with their unforgettable performances on the ice. This
event is an opportunity for the Lithuanian Skating
Federation to demonstrate to the International Skating Union
(ISU) that we are capable of hosting the European Figure
Skating Championships in 2022“, - says the President of
Lithuanian Skating Federation Lilija Vanagienė, a press
release from the federation states.
