Fotografas P. Nicklenas ne kartą stebėjo baltuosius lokius laukinėje gamtoje, tačiau šis išbadėjęs lokys jį tiesiog sukrėtė.

Filmavimo grupė niekaip negalėjo padėti kenčiančiam lokiui, jie neturėjo maisto, kurį galėtų atiduoti gyvūnui. Jie nutarė įamžinti baltojo lokio kančią ir parodyti pasauliui, kad kalbos apie klimato atšilimą ir jo poveikį gyvūnams nėra tik tuščios kalbos.

It’s a soul-crushing scene that still haunts me, but I know we need to share both the beautiful and the heartbreaking if we are going to break down the walls of apathy. Mokslininkai sako, kad jau netrukus lokiai gali išnykti, ir aš noriu žmonėms parodyti, kaip tai atrodo. Lokiai tiesiog mirs iš bado. Štai taip kenčia badaujantis gyvūnas“, – sako fotografas.

Pusę tonos sveriantys baltieji lokiai dažniausiai medžioja ant ledo, kur jie gaudo ruonius. Kai dėl šiltėjančio klimato ledynai tirpsta, baltieji lokiai priversti badauti.
