Lithuania on lookout for trade representative in Taiwan

Lithuania's Ministry of the Economy and Innovation has launched a competition for the country's trade representative in Taiwan to further develop Lithuania's economic representation in the Southeast Asian region, the ministry said.

"I hope the selected trade representative will not only successfully lead the Lithuanian commercial representative office, but also provide an impetus to attract more investments, promote exports of Lithuanian goods and services, as well as promote mutual technological cooperation, tourism and other activities," Economy and Innovation Minister Ausrine Armonaite said in the ministry's statement.

The possibility to establish Lithuanian trade representative offices in countries without diplomatic missions or consular offices was introduced in September of last year when the Seimas of Lithuania adopted amendments to the Law on Civil Service.

Last fall, a Taiwanese representative office was opened in Vilnius.
