The ministry has told BNS that only permanent residents of Lithuania and certain categories of foreigners are currently eligible for vaccination against COVID-19.
On Tuesday, Health Minister Arunas Dulkys registered a draft decree making foreign-based Lithuanian citizens eligible, too.
The draft document also regulates the vaccination of foreign nationals more clearly, but makes no significant changes to the rules, according to the ministry.
Economy and Innovation Minister Ausrine Armonaite has asked the Health Ministry to open vaccination slots to expats.
Over 1.21 million people have received at least one coronavirus vaccine dose so far.
