Women’s rights activists urge Seimas to ratify Istanbul convention

On Thursday, an association of women’s rights activists held a brief street campaign calling on MPs to ratify the Istanbul Convention and introducing people to the actual content of the document.

The organiser of the event “Stop Violence against Women! Ratify the Istanbul”, Elinga Zelionkaitė, says that victims of violence in Lithuania are still blamed by society.

The members of NGO Vilniaus Moterų Namai (Vilnius Women’s House) put up a tent on Independence Square, next to the parliament’s building.
