He paid attention to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's statements downplaying the scope of the crisis, and also the Belarusian government's decision not to cancel sports events.

"It's hard to judge how much we can see from those public messages or TV reports whether the situation reflects the reality or not, but judging from the Belarusian leader's statements and that footage when he poses at a sports game where there are many people and says there's no virus here, so it's raising concern very much," Veryga told a press conference on Wednesday.
