A universal child benefit will increase to 70 euros, from current 60 euros per month, from January 2021 pursuant to a respective amendment to the Law on Child Benefits adopted by the Seimas of Lithuania with 126 votes in favor and no votes against or abstentions.

A monthly benefit for children with disability as well as children from large or poor families will increase to 111 euros, from 100 euros.

The parliament also passed amendments to the Law on Social Support for Pupils providing for free meals for all second graders irrespective of their household income starting from the next school year.

Currently, free meals are only available to all first graders and preschoolers.
