"Despite possibilities to bypass the blocking of access to the linkomanija.net website, it does not mean such a protection measures for copyright and other intellectual property rights is not proportionate," the court ruling states.

The court also noted that the website's operator is consciously hiding its data, thus, confirming its obvious unwillingness to cooperate.

Linkomanija.net is the 30th most popular website in Lithuania, receiving up to 102,000 visitors a day.

The judicial panel also stated that previous court rulings duly pointed to the massive scope of copyright and intellectual property violation being committed by linkomanija.net.

The Supreme Court's ruling is final and binding.

In late June, Mantas Martisius, the chairman of the Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania, said US internet giant Google sees no technical possibilities for blocking access to websites that are banned in Lithuania, including the file-sharing site Linkomanija.net.
