According to the survey published on Thursday, 12 percent of respondents would have voted for the HU-LCD in September, compared to 12.5 percent in August.

Some 11.3 percent would have voted for the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, up from 8.3 percent in August.

The opposition Democratic Union "For Lithuania" is next in line with 6.5 percent, down from 9.5 percent in August.

Further down the list is the opposition Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union with 6.5 percent (7.1 percent in August), followed by the Liberal Movement, part of the ruling block, with 6.2 percent (6.4 percent in August), the Freedom and Justice party with 4.8 percent (4.2 percent), the Freedom Party, another ruling coalition member, with 3.9 percent (5.1 percent), and the Labor Party with 3.7 percent (2.4 percent).

Some 9.3 percent would have voted for another party, 16.8 percent would have not voted at all, and 19 percent were undecided or did not answer the question.

Asked to name the politician or the public figure best fitted to lead the government, the largest percentage of respondents, or 12.5 percent, chose Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte (13.2 percent in August).

Vilija Blinkeviciute, the LSDP leader, came in second with 8.6 percent (up from 6.2 percent in August), followed by Saulius Skvernelis, a former prime minister and the leader of "For Lithuania", in the third place with 7.6 percent (10 percent in August).

Asked about the current government's performance, record-low 23.9 percent of those polled in September had a positive or rather positive opinion, down from 28.8 percent in August, with the fall (4.9 percentage points) exceeding the error margin.

At the same time, record-high 68.8 percent had a negative or rather negative opinion last month, up from 64.2 percent in August.

The Spinter/Delfi representative survey was carried out on September 20-30. The margin of error is 3.1 percent.
