The ministers are expected to issue a joint statement to express a strong position on the participation of Russian and Belarusian sports governing bodies, individuals and government officials in international sports federations and on the broadcasting of sports competitions to Russia and Belarus, the Lithuanian Education, Science and Sports Ministry has said in a press release.

The participants of the meeting include Ukraine's Minister for Youth and Sports Vadym Huttsait.

"Lithuania takes a strong stance towards sports in Russia and Belarus," it said.

On the first day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in late February, Siugzdiniene urged Lithuanian sports federations, clubs and athletes to sever all sporting ties with Russia and Belarus, not to travel to these countries for competitions and not to host their athletes in Lithuania, the ministry noted.
