"Yes, I can confirm that the soldier you mentioned was injured and is currently being treated in Kyiv's military hospital," Paulina Levickyte, an advisor to the foreign minister, has told BNS.

According to the 15min online news site, the Lithuanian man last month suffered a gunshot wound during a military operation in the Kharkiv region and underwent surgery.

After Russia invaded Ukraine in late February, a number of Lithuanians answered Kyiv's call for foreign volunteers to join Ukrainians in the fight against the Russian army.

Lithuanians are also taking part in Ukraine's counter-offensive that began in September.
