Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has officially become a member of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrat party (TS-LKD). Martynas Prievelis, the party’s executive secretary, confirmed the news on the evening of 6 December.

“Today Ingrida Šimonytė joined the party. She became a member of its branch in Naujoji Vilnia. We are truly pleased about the prime minister’s decision. We believe it is a clear invitation for non-party members to join,” the executive secretary told the news agency ELTA.
