Seimas appoints first intelligence ombudsman

On Tuesday, the Seimas appointed Nortautas Statkus ombudsman for intelligence by secret ballot.

The nomination of Seimas Speaker Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen was favoured by 81 MPs against 19 with 13 abstentions. Two ballot papers were spoilt.
A total of 115 MPs attended the voting.
