Reported crime increased by 8.2% or 3,000 crimes in 2022, but the police describe the overall situation in Lithuania as stable.
Police Commissioner General Renatas Požėla commented the data in a press conference at the Ministry of the Interior on Wednesday, 15 February. He said that theft, often from supermarkets and service stations, accounted for 2,000 out of those 3,000 crimes. Whereas the remaining 1,000 crimes were instances of fraud, usually occurring online.
